Axis Station becomes the first commericial space station
Year 30, Day 97
Axis Space has introduced their newest space station, and it was just recently launched into orbit in a single launch, becoming the first commercial space station in orbit of Kerbin!
Axis Space is a newer private aerospace company that first started up in Year 25. It has already made some incredible progress in the aerospace industry, and has collaborated with other private organizations, including the world-famous SpaceK.
It may seem like a small company, but this quick growth showed extreme promise to the KSA and everyone involved; all were quietly anticipating what would come next out of Axis.
Little did anyone know, Axis proposed their most ambitious project to date: the Axis Station! If built and launched, this would become the first commercial space station in orbit... Ever.
And the KSA and SpaceK liked the idea so much that they endorsed it and funded its construction and planned launch. Though many checks had to be made to make sure the station would be safe for crew and visitors, the project was looking uphill; and it sure was.
Just a week ago, the small station was launched into orbit of Kerbin and set up in that same week; it also only took one, single launch to bring it into Kerbin orbit!
The station itself has a sleek and futuristic design, featuring several habitation compartments and an experimental never-done-before centrifugul-gravity inflatable rotating ring.
All this made the station a prime target for commercial space operations now and in the farther future; maybe, one day, even for deep space operations.
The future looks exciting; and this is the start of it. More stations will be built, and others will have to come down, like the Kerbal Space Station is planned to be in around another decade at the maximum. We can't keep everything up there forever, as much as we want to; they pose too much of a risk to all spacecraft here on out. That's why Axis Station is in a higher orbit than the KSS; because in the future, that's the better option.
